Antigone

"learn to seek your gain where gain is yours to get, not try to grasp it everywhere."
-Creon

What is the purpose of Creon saying this?
What might the audience expect to understand by this?

  1. Great question. I think the quote almost gives the answer in that Creon is saying true gain and satisfaction where the opportunity presents itself. If one goes looking for gain where it may be due to another person it will only be a loss for him. The audience may expect to understand a man's inability to get gain from another's actions.
